A MUM was left stunned after a sloppy delivery driver dumped a 10kg package on top of her sleeping baby.

The child's mum had left her snoozing tot in the pushchair outside her house when the large Hello Fresh package was dropped on top of the infant.

The fuming parent blasted the postie for "having no shame".

She said in an Instagram post: "Congratulations, you crushed a sleeping baby in its pram with a 10kg parcel and have no shame.

"Thank God the baby is OK! Never again!"

Blogger Camilla Gervide shared the shocking incident on her website and said the mother complained to Gordon Delivery - the firm responsible.

She claimed the mum, from Sweden, was initially offered 250 Swedish kronor - equivalent to £20 - in compensation.

Camilla said the baby for fortunately uninjured - but said "it could have clearly had significantly more serious consequences".

Mikael Sahlsten, a spokesman for the business, said the driver wanted to leave the parcel in a dry area and thought the pram was a suitable spot.

He told the Aftonbladet newspaper that the driver didn't see the sleeping baby and was "very sorry" about the situation.

The delivery driver then went back to the house to apologise and brought the mum flowers and chocolate.

Sahlsten said: "When no one opened up, the driver wanted to leave the parcel on the doorstep, but he thought the surface was too damp.

"So he thought the pram would be more practical. He didn’t see the baby.

"The mother called us immediately and we made contact with the driver right away.

"He was very sorry about the whole thing. He drove back to the customer and apologised with flowers and pralines.

"He also wanted to know how the child was doing."

In an update on Instagram, the mum said she had been given two free deliveries - and the driver was "almost in tears" on her doorstep when he came to apologise.

The custom of leaving babies alone outside is widespread in Sweden and other Scandinavian countries - even in relatively cold weather.

Parents believe exposing tots to fresh air will help them sleep longer and develop stronger immune systems.
