ALAN PARDEW "did a Steve McClaren" during an appearance on Soccer Special last night.

The former Newcastle and Crystal Palace boss was on Sky Sports to help describe the League Cup action.

Pardew, 62, was on Doncaster's clash with Everton for the programme.

Sean Dyche's side, yet to score a goal or register a point in the Premier League, travelled to take on the team currently occupying bottom spot in League Two.

They suffered a nightmare first half, falling 1-0 down to Joe Ironside's 44th minute header.

Dyche opted to throw on new £25million signing Beto to help rescue the game.

Pardew wasn't initially impressed with the Portuguese striker.

But as he slated him live on air... the 25-year-old prodded a shot beyond Donny goalkeeper Ian Lawlor to equalise.

Fans likened Pards' awkward moment to when Steve McClaren appeared on Sky Sports News for England's clash with Iceland at Euro 2016.

The former Three Lions boss famously talked of England's "perfect response and dominance" against Iceland... before being silenced by Kolbeinn Sigthorsson's goal.

On this occasion, one fan wrote: "Alan Pardew disasterclass on Soccer Special."

While a second blasted: "Why is Alan Pardew anywhere near opining on football?"

Former England cricketer Stuart Broad was also on last night's Soccer Special.

And many fans felt he did a better job than Pards.

One tweeted: "Stuart Broad a decent performance on sky, Alan Pardew, no thanks."

Another added: "Why is Stuart Broad is reporting on Gillette soccer special?? To be fair he won’t be as bad as Alan Pardew who’s also on there!"

During his appearance, Pardew brought another silence out of the panel, when he spoke of a "disagreement" he had with Aris' owner while managing the Greek club.

After equalising, Beto nearly gave Everton the lead - only for his header to strike the post.

Dyche's men then squeezed into round three, courtesy of Arnaut Danjuma's 88th minute strike.

The Toffees will travel to Aston Villa in the next round, having already lost 4-0 to Unai Emery's side in the Premier League this season.
