Corden’s The Late Late Show scores huge numbers through online clips, but the live audiences tuning in are less than 2m.

Stephen up four drama

COMEDIAN Stephen Merchant says appearing in true crime drama Four Lives has encouraged him to do more serious roles.

The writer played serial killer Stephen Port in the BBC1 show and says the “challenge” made him keen to do more work outside comedy.

Stephen, who co-wrote and stars in BBC1 comedy The Outlaws, says: “As time’s gone on I’ve felt more confident as an actor so someone offered me the chance to play that character.

“I was nervous about taking on something like that, but I enjoyed it.

“Not that it’s enjoyable to play a killer but it’s enjoyable to have the challenge of that.

“That was the first time I’d found acting kind of equally stimulating in that way so I wouldn’t mind doing other serious stuff.”

Based on his performance in Four Lives, he deserves more gritty castings.

Relief starts to a tee

A DIVERSE line-up of stars offered their help to this year’s Comic Relief – and were rewarded with some Mr Men and Little Miss T-shirts.

They weren’t just gifts, however – the celebrities were promoting the tops, sold at high street store TK Maxx, with all sales going to the charity.

Though organisers did try to match up the cartoon characters to the nature of the famous faces lending their support.

Model and car lover Jodie Kidd said: “Being the motorhead I am, it was very apt that I got to wear the Marvellously Messy sweatshirt on set with TK Maxx this year.

“With every sale of this collection, donations will go to the vital work that Comic Relief does to help children and young people facing tough times so why not head to your nearest store and lend your support in whatever way you can.”

The soa’s writers have worked closely with Samaritans and suicide charity Andy’s Man Club to tell Paddy’s story authentically.
