The world-famous NFL franchise, who experienced landmark success during the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era between 2001-2019, are looking to build on their popularity in these regions. As part of the NFL's 'The Global Markets Program', Bierhoff has been called upon to lend his expertise.
This scheme will see the former Germany captain advice the six-time Super Bowl champions on matters to do with 'strategies built around marketing, branding and business development', according to the Patriots. In his previous role with the German FA, he was credited with helping to united women's and men's soccer, alongside the DFB Academy.
This all formed part of the a strategy which spanned one single department in an innovative new programme for the German FA. On top of his work in that area, he was successfully able to launch a youth soccer initiative called 'Project Future'.
Bierhoff has spoken of his delight at being able to join forces with the Patriots moving forward, saying: "American football is a great sport and source of entertainment. I love the passion, the athleticism and the excitement of the game. For years I have been an avid football fan.
"I am proud of becoming a part of the Patriots family and I am looking forward to supporting the franchise's continued expansion in Europe. What's exciting is the huge potential I see to make American football more popular in a very attractive DACH market."
Jen Ferron, Chief Marketing Officer for Kraft Sports and Entertainment, added: "As we launched our efforts in Germany, with Switzerland and Austria soon thereafter, we realized we would be best served by adding expertise from someone who has been a business leader in the region to advise us in our efforts.
"Marketing and developing business relationships in Germany is a new opportunity for us, and we are honored to welcome Oliver on board as an advisor with a one-of-a-kind experience in the German sports environment. His familiarity with the business and political landscape of the region will be invaluable as we strengthen our efforts to expand our branding throughout the DACH region."
