Earlier this week, Angela broke her silence after being saved by the judges this weekend, amid some viewer complaints. The star won a "tough" dance-off against Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas after the judges unanimously decided the newsreader and her pro dance partner Kai had more potential on the dance floor.

However, some Strictly fans reckoned dad-of-two Adam was "robbed", taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say the result was "the wrong decision". While plenty of viewers backed Angela for the win, others were upset to watch soap star Adam leave the show. Adam himself backed his co-star in his first interview since his exit on Monday night, calling Angela "amazing".

Angela spoke out about being saved by the judges this weekend. Speaking to host Fleur East on It Takes Two on Tuesday, Angela confessed it was "tough" going up against her "mate" Adam in the dance-off, but she saw the positives in getting to redo her routine. She said: "Oh it was upsetting. I was cross with myself because clearly, I hadn't done everything that Kai had been drumming into me in the week. At the same time, the upside is we got to dance it again. It was lovely to be able to do it again."

Asked about Adam leaving, she went on: "I think the situation we're in at the moment is the pool is getting so small now, there's only eight of us now. If there are only going to be three people in the final then every week it gets tougher and someone is going to be the one who is going to be eliminated.

"What was tough about it is Adam is such a lovely guy. We all adore him, we've all become great friends. When you are the other person in the dance-off, you know you are going to battle it out with someone who's become a mate. It's tough, it is tough."
