UNSTOPPABLE Harry Kane showed why he is the best striker in Europe as he sent Bayern Munich into the Champions League last 16.

Germany’s favourite Englishman has an astonishing 19 goals in 15 club matches thanks to a superb six-minute brace that broke the hearts of Galatasaray.

The first was a header from a Joshua Kimmich free-kick that was initially deemed to be offside by an assistant referee – until that on-field decision was overruled by the VAR technician.

Then the ex-Tottenham talisman, 30, cemented Munich’s position at the top of Group A with a composed tap-in on 86 minutes from substitute Mathys Tel’s low cross.

That is now 25 Champions League goals in his stellar career and continued his hot streak since moving from North London to Bavaria.

Yet had it not been for those two goals, this would have gone down as a frustrating evening’s work for Kane, who had an early shot saved by Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.

And on 53 minutes, Kane’s effort at full stretch – following a delightful cross by Kingsley Coman that was headed on by midfielder Leon Goretzka – bounced off a post.

Galatasaray had their chances and were frustrated that former Arsenal star Lucas Torreira’s ‘goal’ was chalked off with Argentine forward Mauro Icardi deemed to be offside.

They did score in the third minute of stoppage time through Cedric Bakambu but it was all too little too late.

The only Englishmen to have scored more than Harry Kane’s 25 Champions League goals are Wayne Rooney on 30 and Raheem Sterling on 27.

Kane said: “It was a tough game. We expected another tough game. The away leg was very similar.

“I thought we controlled the game better this time. Especially in the first half.

“We got into the final third in transition but we just lacked the final pass or final finish. We knew in the second half we just had keep that momentum.

“There’s always a lot that goes into the transfer, on and off the field.

“So of course there’s always a bit more pressure and expectation but I’ve been delighted with the start obviously.

“It’s down to the team, too. The team are playing really well and I’ve got amazing players around me to set me up and give me chances.”
