QUEEN Camilla laid a tribute to fallen heroes among a sea of crosses at Westminster Abbey yesterday.
Camilla, 76, in a black cape and hat, placed her small wooden cross, with her cypher and the words “In Remembrance”, into a large cross of poppies.
It joined 40,000 other tributes already laid out for the opening of London’s 95th Field of Remembrance.
The Queen bowed her head during a two-minute silence then chatted to guests including Baroness Fookes, president of the War Widows Association.
Afterwards, the baroness said: “The royal recognition means a great deal.”

King Charles, 74, was at London’s Central Synagogue to meet some of 10,000 Kindertransport children given sanctuary in Britain before the start of World War Two.
The event marked the 85th anniversary of Kristallnacht, when Nazi thugs attacked Jewish homes and businesses in 1938.
The King told them: “How you managed to endure all of this is truly remarkable. It seems an important occasion to keep memories alive. You make me very proud.”
