Chet Hanks attacked a man who broke into his house Monday

Chet Hanks, the son of beloved actor Tom Hanks, had to subdue a man who broke into his house Monday morning.

The 33-year-old actor allegedly encountered the burglar at around 3am. Los Angeles police officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene shortly after and arrested the 42-year-old man. However, things turned into chaos when the man fought back against the cops and fell back into a deputy who was left with a broken leg, according to reports. The officer and the suspect were both taken to a nearby hospital.

After the man was cleared medically, he was charged with burglary and his case will be handed over to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office where the charges will be filed. Chet escaped the situation with no injuries.

"In the commission of the burglary, Victim Hanks had to defend himself against the suspect and was able to subdue him until department personnel arrived on scene. The suspect was handcuffed and arrested at the location," a statement from the police to TMZ read.

It continued: "While escorting the suspect to the patrol vehicle, a deputy did sustain an injury to his leg. The suspect and the deputy were transported to the local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. After the suspect’s treatment, he was transported and booked at Marina Del Rey Station for burglary and other violations are still being investigated."

"This is an on-going investigation, and the department is not in the position to provide further information at this moment," the statement finished.

This isn't Chet's first run-in with the law, as he was accused of psychological and physical abuse by his ex-girlfriend Kiana Parker. She filed a civil suit against him that claimed he shoved and grabbed his then-girlfriend and called her a "ghetto black b***h" who wouldn't be believed if she reported his abuse.

The filing also alleged that Chet threatened to commit murder-suicide and said these things while Kiana's nine-year-old twins were in the house. Chet and his lawyers hit back and claimed that Kiana had hit Chet over the head with a pot that left the aspiring rapper with a bloodied wound on his forehead.

Chet is the oldest son of Tom Hanks, 67, and Rita Wilson, 66. He's dabbled with a career performing rap music but is mostly an actor who appeared in shows like Empire and Shameless.
