A man accused of stealing parcels has been spotted wearing pair of red knickers as facemask.

Spencer Gougler is accused of stealing parcels when he was rumbled by CCTV while wearing a pair of red knickers on his face as a mask in Oklahoma, US.

He was then found by police and arrested over the incident.

Tulsa Police Department announced the incident in a statement issued on Facebook over the weekend that he was caught, and even took the opportunity to poke fun at him with a bizarre hashtag.

The post read: “Porch Pirate with an unusual and questionably effective mask – Arrested. #PantiesAreNotaMask."

Porch Pirate is a name which is often given to those who steal packages and other goods left outside people's homes after being delivered.

The police later said in a more serious tone: “We were provided surveillance images of the suspect, and Flock helped locate the suspect vehicle.”

Officers managed to catch the crook after he was recognised from previous crimes when he also wore knickers on his head.

“One of our Street Crimes Officers recognised the suspect from previous porch pirate cases where the suspect was wearing women’s underwear as a mask," the statement continued.

Police added that they went to Gougler's house and knocked on the door but he refused to come outside.

Officers then "contained" the house until they obtained a warrant to go inside.

The police said: "Gougler remained inside the residence and would not talk with officers.

“Officers with the Gilcrease Division Impact Unit assisted with containing the house, while a search warrant for the residence was obtained."

When they came back with the warrant “Gougler exited at the first announcement from officers."

Gougler now faces five counts of larceny, one count of knowingly concealing stolen property, and one count of grant larceny.
