VIRGIN Media TV customers have received a bunch of new perks, including the addition of free streaming app Pluto TV on all 360 and Stream boxes.

It follows a seven-channel boost earlier this month, where customers were given access to Sky Kids, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Cartoonito, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr and Nicktoons for the entire month, free of charge.

The network provider has issued new firmware updates (v5.04 and v5.05) for both Virgin TV 360 and Stream platforms.

Customers will have more skipping options often while watching on-demand content.

For example, a pop-up will appear at the beginning of each episode giving viewers the option to neatly skip the intro.

Or, viewers will be given the option to skip past the credits to the next episode - if there is one.

Programme titles will also only show for in focus programmes, not if you're knee deep in a TV binge.

As part of the update, the company has also improved text search so users can choose what content they're shown first.

Users can opt to see their most recent searches or the most popular searchers first in the Personalisation section of their account settings.

The option of enabling automatic updates for both TV 360 and Stream boxes will also be brought in for future updates.

One other welcome change, as pointed out by ISPreview, is that Virgin Media will now supply customers with more information about new changes in the latest software updates.

Previously, update notes contained a generic message.

How do I get the update?

You'll have to install this update on your TV manually.

To do so, simply go to Home > Interactive > TV Channel upgrades or Home > Help > Virgin TV > TV Channel Upgrades.

However, this update should be the last you'll have to install manually, thanks to the new addition of automatic updates.
