Eight-year-old Princess Charlotte is the second child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, and she is visibly close with her family. At high profile, and often high pressure, public engagements - like the late Queen's funeral - Charlotte is often seen in the company of her elder brother Prince George, with whom she seems to share a close bond.
Earlier in the year royal expert Jennie Bond claimed that George would likely be "grateful" for the support of his younger sister as he continues on his journey of preparing to be king one day.
However, despite her seemingly close friendships with both of her brothers, one body language expert has claimed that within the Royal Family itself, it's actually a much older member who seems like they occupy the position of "best friend" in young Princess Charlotte's life.
It may well be Princess Beatrice, 35, who is one of Charlotte's closest friends out of the Windsor family, the body language interpreter claimed. Judi James argues that the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew has shared many sweet moments with Prince William's only daughter that have been glimpsed by the public which may give an insight into their relationship.
James highlighted to the Express that one of these came from the wedding of Princess Eugenie in 2018 to Jack Brooksbank. "The pose where little Princess Charlotte gazed up at her 'auntie Beatrice' at Eugenie's wedding showed Beatrice could well be Charlotte's favourite royal friend."
Meghan Markle 'to unleash her own memoirs' as Prince Harry's drops next weekThe body language expert also claimed that another moment from Prince Philip's memorial service in 2022 demonstrated how close the two are - despite their large age gap of 27 years. "There was an even more touching moment between the two at Philip's memorial service. Beatrice was overcome by emotion during the service, weeping loudly and even hiding her entire face behind her hymn sheet at one point. It was little Charlotte who looked back from the front row with an expression of concern, prompting Beatrice to offer a small smile and nod of thanks to reassure Charlotte she was okay."
Beatrice isn't the only older member of the Royal Family that Charlotte seems to be genuine friends with, according to James. She also claims that while Charlotte seems to enjoy the usual close mother-daughter relationship with Kate, their body language seems to show that they enjoy a close friendship as well.
"It's not unusual for a mother and her daughter to describe themselves as friends or even enjoy being 'best friends' but where Kate and Charlotte are concerned that specific bond might be more necessary than it is for others as being a top-tier royal can be an isolating experience and we all saw how much the late Queen always cherished the unique equality of her mother-daughter bond with Princess Anne."
Given that growing up in the public spotlight as a royal is such an unusual upbringing, it perhaps isn't surprising that some of the adult Windsors have this common ground on which a friendship can develop with the youngsters.
