David and Victoria Beckham might 'regret' bringing up the infamous Rebecca Loos affair claim after two decades, a source claimed.

The A-list couple opened up about the allegations - which saw their former assistant claim she had an affair with the England footballer in the early noughties in their Netflix docu-series, Beckham. She alleged she had a relationship with him while he was playing for Real Madrid.

He described the claims as "ludicrous" at the time but has hardly addressed them in the past nearly two decades. Speaking about it for the first time in a while in the documentary, the couple opened up about how the affair allegations impacted their relationship - with Victoria admitting they "were against each other" and struggled for a long while after it came out.

The series angered Rebecca, who appeared on Good Morning Britain to slam him for refusing to take responsibility for what she claimed happened 20 years ago. The 46-year-old said: "I had left it all behind me, I'd much rather not be here and talk about this again. I had moved on with my life. But the angle bothered me, how he had played the narrative and how misleading it is - and how it made me look the bad person."

And now, a source claimed David and Posh Spice 'opened a can of worms' by bringing up the decades-old scandal. A source said Rebecca 'wants to have her say' about everything that has been brought up. They added: "She feels David was playing the victim too much and she feels she deserves to tell her version of events.

Speaking to OK!, they continued: "If they hadn’t mentioned it in the documentary, Rebecca wouldn’t have spoken. They probably didn’t expect Rebecca to come out and speak again. They’ve opened a can of worms and it’s come back to bite them – and they may regret it.”

Rebecca had previously described David as an "amazing lover" and that they "couldn’t keep their hands off each other". She said in the past: "We were just locked into each other all night conversation-wise, other people noticed… we just connected. I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong… people were aware and they weren’t very happy. He knows how to please."

In their new Netflix documentary, Beckham, director Fisher Stevens asked David: "Multiple tabloid stories broke, and how did you deal with that?" as he replied: "There were some horrible stories that were difficult to deal with. It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage."

He then asked Posh if that was the hardest time in their marriage. She said: "100 per cent. It was the hardest period for us. Because it felt like the world was against us. And here's the thing; we were against each other, if I'm being completely honest. You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else.

"But we were together. We were connected. We had each other. But when we were in Spain, it didn't really feel that we had each other either. And that's sad. I can't even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me."
