It fell to £4.8million after several reductions but has now been bought for an undisclosed sum.

Experts had predicted its “beauty and location” would “outweigh the connection” of its shady past.

Agent Campion and Company sold the home at Manchester-by-the-Sea, in Massachusetts, US.

A description on their website said: “Tidewood - a beautifully appointed and masterfully renovated colonial estate of historical significance.

“Exceptionally unique in its private setting on the North Shore, the property offers unlimited ocean views and ultimate solitude.”

The property was owned by Maxwell’s former husband, Scott Borgerson, 44, who dumped Maxwell, 61, while she was in jail.

She got 20 years in June last year for sex trafficking young girls for Jeffrey Epstein, who killed himself in jail.

She is appealing against the length of her sentence.
