Manchester City Council enforcement officers began an investigation into a white Audi S3 that was parked in Bridgewater Street, Manchester, displaying a blue badge in May.

The permits are given to people whose disabilities or health mean their mobility is limited and entitles them to free parking.

Upon checking the badge an enforcement officer found the badge's holder had died in February 2022 and was therefore no longer valid.

The vehicle was hit with a penalty charge and removed to the Manchester pound, where Morrison reclaimed the vehicle on the same day.

During his interview under caution, Morrison had claimed he had brought the badge from “someone in Old Trafford” for £50.

Morrison was ultimately charged with one count of fraud and fined £1,000.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £508.32 and a victim surcharge of £400.

A spokesperson for Manchester City Council said: "This ruling shows that the law is applicable to everyone, with no exceptions.

"I am grateful for the diligent work of our investigating officers, as well as legal counsel, who were able to successfully prosecute this case.

“Our officers patrol the streets daily to ensure that blue badges are used legitimately, and we will not hesitate to take action if we discover people trying to circumvent the law.”

Legendary Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson is said to have called the attacking midfielder better than club legends Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs when he was a youngster.

Speaking in 2018, Rio Ferdinand told BT Sports: "I was at the club when he was there. Probably the most gifted, the most naturally gifted young kid I've ever seen.

"Sir Alex Ferguson, I remember he called me and Wazza (Rooney) over one day and said 'look at this kid, he's better than you Rooney when you were a kid, he's better than you Rio, better than Ryan Giggs when you were kids. This is the best kid you will ever see'."

Morrison never lived up to his potential at Old Trafford, leaving the club in 2012.

He has since starred for a number of teams including West Ham, Birmingham, QPR, Cardiff, Lazio and Derby.

The Jamaican international currently plays his football with D.C. United.

However, he was left off the club's roster for the 2023 Major League Soccer season by Rooney.
