A GERMAN tourist has been stabbed to death and a British man injured by a "hammer-wielding attacker" near the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The Brit is understood to have been attacked while walking through the city with his family.

Officials confirmed that the man killed was a German national, who was slashed in the back and shoulder by the attacker last night.
The man, who was not named, was found in cardiorespiratory arrest before he passed away.

He said a heroic taxi driver intervened and saved the wife's life as the suspect fled across a nearby bridge spanning the River Seine.
The man went on to attack two more people, hitting one in the eye with a hammer, the minister added.
Witnesses reported hearing people screaming for "help" as they ran away from the hammer and knife-wielding man.
A passer-by, who gave their account of events anonymously, told French broadcaster BFMTV: "I heard screaming".
After being tasered by cops, a 26-year-old French national known to security services was arrested and anti-terrorism prosecutors have opened an investigation, the BBC reports.
The two people injured - a Frenchman aged around 60 and the British tourist - were treated by emergency services, with neither found to be in a life-threatening condition.
The UK Foreign Office confirmed: "We are supporting a British man who was injured in Paris and are in contact with the local authorities."
Authorities have publicly named the alleged attacker as Armand R, MailOnline reports.
Mr Darmanin said the alleged attacker was heard shouting "Allahu Akbar", Arabic for "God is greatest", and told cops he was upset because "so many Muslims are dying in Afghanistan and in Palestine", the BBC reported.

The man was also known to have suffered psychiatric disorders, Mr Darmanin said.
In unconfirmed footage online, the suspect appears to pledge his allegiance to ISIS.
Telling their account of events, an investigating source said: "The family were on the Avenue President Kennedy when they were set upon.
"A hammer was used to hit the man over the head."
The Englishman was rushed to hospital, where his condition was later described as "stable".
A third victim was also badly hurt in a hammer attack, said the source.
A security cordon is currently in place by the incidents as police carry out investigations.
Officers said there was no early indication as to the motive of the stabbing.
