Liz has been a vocal opponent of former President Trump following the attack on the US Capitol in 2021 and for his false claims of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
Former House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy called for her removal as House Republican Conference Chair.

In 2023, Liz said she was leaning towards forging a third party or even running for president in 2024 herself.
