Newcomer Meg, 21, and Aussie star Elizabeth, 33, were joined at the Royal Festival Hall in central London by Imelda Staunton, who plays Queen Elizabeth II.

Cast members from past series of the Netflix show were also there, including Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin and Gillian Anderson.

The final six episodes will see Prince William depart Eton school for St. Andrew’s University, where he first met the now-Princess of Wales.

Asked if the smash hit would ever return for a prequel series, producer Suzanne Mackie said: “The door is not shut.

“An elegant way to approach it is to go back in time.”

We revealed today how the creators of The Crown are planning a sequel featuring raunchy royal stories — including Fergie’s toe-sucking scandal.

Prince Andrew’s romance with US former actress Koo Stark could also be included, executive producer Andy Harries revealed.

He said “many examples” of “fairly tawdry events” had been left out of the Netflix hit’s six series, adding: “We have often taken the high road here.”

It follows last night’s premiere of the final six episodes of The Crown which has long been a thorn in the royals’ side.

Mr Harries said it would be relatively easy to research events from information already available, and would-be contributors.

One would be Fergie’s relationship with John Bryan while she was separated from Prince Andrew but still married to him.

Sarah, Duchess of York was pictured by a pool in St Tropez in 1992 with the Texan tycoon, her financial adviser, sucking her toes.

Mr Harries said: “Fergie doesn’t feature heavily in the series. We didn’t do the toe sucking story. It wasn’t because it wasn’t a good or interesting story, but it was not central to the theme of the show.”

Speaking to the Have You Seen? podcast, he revealed that members of “the circle around the royal family” had been in touch with him.

He said: “Koo Stark rang me up, she got straight through to me and offered her services. She was briefly a girlfriend of Prince Andrew.”
