Squid Game: The Challenge has been renewed by Netflix following its hugely successful first season, even though fans have been brutally slamming the "boring ending" after the season finale came out.
The season finale of Squid Game: The Challenge dropped onto Netflix earlier this week, with the streaming giant announcing that season two is in the works on the same day. The game show is based on the hit South Korean drama, Squid Game, which premiered on Netflix in September 2021.
Vice president of nonfiction series at Netflix, Brandon Riegg, has said: "There was no red light in our decision to green-light season two of Squid Game: The Challenge, the most ambitious unscripted show we’ve premiered at Netflix."

The show, which has had viewers hooked since it came out, sees 465 players compete against each other while taking part in a selection of different variations of children's games. In the Korean drama series, players compete for 4.56 billion South Korean Won, and with one winner, the losers don't make it out alive.
Meanwhile, in the reality competition show, players compete in similar games for $4.56million (£3.63million). But not as brutal as the fictional show, losers are "shot" with paintballs when dye packs are splattered on their uniforms.
In the first series of the game show, 456 players were whittled down to just three. The final three players were Player 016 Sam, Player 287 Mai, and Player 451 Phil.

But despite the series receiving a huge amount of praise, some viewers were quick to brand the ending of the competition as "boring". Taking to X, which was formerly known as Twitter, one viewer said: "I find the climax of this #SquidGamesTheChallenge boring. Expected more." While another continued: "So disappointed in that ending. Rock paper scissors really!?!? So boring."
A third then added: "This episode is so boring my god finale could have been 5 minutes and we be done or email."
