THIS mum’s set for a Merry Little Christmas after having triplets not much bigger than the festive crackers.

Hannah Gurney, 36, and her partner Chris Wise, 38, a football commentator, were thrilled when they discovered Hannah was pregnant.

But at the scan they had a triple shock when it was revealed there were three heartbeats, rather than just one.

All three were born safe and healthy at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth last month.

Hannah, who is the head of media at a charity, said: ‘Every day we look at them and are so thankful that they are here with us.

‘We knew that it would be a risky pregnancy - especially as two of the triplets shared a placenta - but we felt strongly that we wanted to carry on with the pregnancy and give them all a chance.

‘When they were all born safely it was such an emotional moment. They are the best Christmas present that Chris and I could have asked for.’

The couple, who live in Portsmouth, had just started trying for a family when Hannah found she was pregnant.

Shauna Leven, Chief Executive of Twins Trust, said: ‘A triplet pregnancy is high risk and therefore can be stressful for the parents. So we are delighted that the babies have all arrived safely and are doing so well.”
