Vernon Charles Kay was born in Bolton on April 28, 1974.

He is an English television presenter, radio DJ and former model.

Vernon started his career as a model before switching to TV, hosting T4 on Channel 4 in 2000.

Speaking just before he set off, Vernon told his Radio 2 listeners: "I’m smiling because I’m trying to keep warm as it’s freezing in Leicester.

"I’ve been smiling all morning and now my smile is stuck to my face.

"To be honest I was excited last night, we had a big team dinner and a big meeting, and now I’m feeling really nervous, now I’m thinking have I done enough training for this epic challenge, I think I have. We’re about to find out!

"I’ve just been running. I’ve been doing my finest Forrest Gump impression.

"Lots of miles under the belt, different tempos.

Speaking after the run, Vernon said: "I’m absolutely exhausted, absolutely spent.

"Physically, mentally, there’s nothing in the tank. Is there anyone here who can replace a knee?

"It’s been one of the most painful and joyous experiences I’ve ever had. We’ve met some brilliant people who’ve donated all they can.

"Just one foot in front of the other, that’s what it was.

"And we had a great team pushing me along, motivating me. Thanks to the gang."

Who is his wife Tess Daly?

Vernon met Tess in 2001 when he was hosting T4.

The pair then married in 2003 in Horwich, near Vernon's native Bolton.

They even presented BBC singing competition Just The Two Of Us together from 2006 to 2007.

Tess is of course famous for hosting Strictly Come Dancing.

How many children do Vernon Kay and Tess Daly have?

The couple have two children together.

Their first child, Phoebe, was born in 2004.

The pair then welcomed Amber in 2009.
