Kyrgios' best singles performance remains reaching the quarter-finals in 2015, although he did win the men's doubles in 2022.
Injuries have hampered the 28-year-old this year, with his fitness woes limiting him to just one professional game.
His lack of action has also seen the former world number 13 lose his place in the ATP rankings.
Kyrgios, who has also undergone knee surgery this year, told fans: "I just want to really get back to playing at the top of my game and doing it right and I need a little more time."
