Barcelona could demand an even bigger fee since Araujo is under contract until 2026 with an £860m release clause.
If United miss out on Araujo they could focus their efforts on signing long-term target Jean-Clair Todibo who has impressed at Nice this season.
The Ligue 1 side are understood to value Todibo at around £50m.

But United's main transfer target is believed to be Benfica centre-back Antonio Silva, who has an £85m release clause.
