Tragedy struck Tammy Slaton, star of 1000-lb Sisters, when her husband Caleb Willingham died seven months after they wed. However, their sadly short-lived love story is tenderly revisited in the latest episode of TLC’s fly-on-the-wall series.
The couple tied the knot last November and then, in July, Tammy, 36, shared that Caleb had passed away aged 40; a cause of death was not revealed. They met at the Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Center in Gibsonburg, Ohio, while undergoing weight-loss treatment, during which Tammy shed over 180 pounds.
Caleb popped the question in the parking lot in October, and the pair wed a month later in the facility – the big day aired in March. The pair are believed to have split before Caleb’s death, reportedly because he wasn’t following his diet. In an all-new instalment, viewers catch up with Tammy and Caleb as they settle into newlywed life whilst still at the centre.
A teaser trailer shows the lovebirds laughing and joking and looking forward to living together after rehab. “You know, I can’t wait ‘till we get home and get out of this place and wake up in the same bed,” says Caleb, to which Tammy replies: “But they won’t let us sleep in the same bed for safety reasons.” Caleb adds that he is excited to spend some alone time with her, quipping: “Remember, I told you, you got a ride coming, full speed. You look exhausted just thinking about riding me.” Tammy laughs: “You pervert, I’m done with you!”
In a touching confessional, Tammy gushes about the happiness she has found with her other half. “It’s been two months since I got married. I’m really happy with Caleb. He’s the best thing that’s possibly ever happened to me,” she said, adding, with a smile, that she’s probably too comfortable around him: “I mean, if I’m farting in front of him, that says a lot. I’ll burp in front of you all day long, but to pass gas? That’s magical.”
The pair are also heard sweetly trading “I love you’s”, with Caleb proudly proclaiming: “Everybody tells me Tammy and I are such a cute couple. In my opinion, we’re the kind of couple that makes people sick!” Last month (November), Tammy paid a tribute on her socials to her late partner. “The sunset was our thing,” she wrote, alongside a montage of photographs, including a sunset and one of Caleb’s urn on a table.
