George Clooney admits he is often left feeling embarrassed by wife Amal ’s glamorous outfits on the red carpet. The Hollywood actor should probably up his style game after sharing that he has gotten used to being overshadowed.

Earlier this week, the couple attended the LA premiere of his new film The Boys in the Boat, charting the story of the 1936 Olympic gold-winning rowing team. Whilst Clooney, 62, cut a dashing figure in a black suit and blue shirt, 45-year-old Amal, a human rights lawyer, looked (ahem) oar-some in an Atelier Versace sunshine-yellow gown.

The former ER heartthrob, who directed and produced his latest effort, said his other half leaves him in the dust in the sartorial stakes. “She cleans up. I’m always embarrassed because I’m wearing something that I’ve worn, like, 1,000 times,” he told ET, joking that he felt “slighted” by the amount of attention she receives.

Two-time Oscar-winner Clooney then quipped that he now plays second fiddle to Amal, who he married in 2014. He added: “My entire career has been reduced to a plus-one now. I did one of those Women in Film things a couple of years ago, and I had to introduce myself as ‘Amal Clooney’s husband’ because, honestly, I was dead otherwise.”

The couple are parents to six-year-old twins Alexander and Ella, and the children swung by the set to see their dad. “Yeah, the kids came to visit. They think that all I do is play in the water. I did a movie a couple of years ago called The Midnight Sky,” he recalled. “I had to shoot stuff in a tank, and they came to visit, and I’m in clothes but in a tank. So, whenever I go to work, they think I’m swimming.”

Earlier this year, Clooney briefly reprised his role as the Caped Crusader – after suiting up in 1997’s Batman & Robin – in superhero spin-off The Flash, starring Ezra Miller. “There was such a clamor for me to come back… They were like, ‘Can we do it without the rubber nipples?’ I was like, ‘Well, it’s not really my Batman, is it?’” he said, before ruling out a full-time return: “I don’t think there’s enough drugs in the world to go back to Batman. It was fun to do because it was a bit. It was supposed to be funny.”
