However, there's no shortage of contenders with the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino also thought to be in contention.
Southgate, who has been in charge of the Three Lions since September 2016, has entered his fourth major tournament as manager.

He's guided the national team to a semi-final at the 2018 World Cup, the final of EURO 2020 and the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
England won their opening contest at Euro 2024 against Serbia in fairly underwhelming fashion, but remain one of the favourites to clinch their first men's trophy since the 1966 World Cup.
And regardless of the outcome, many believe it could be Southgate's last hurrah with his contract set to expire before 2025.

But who is most likely to replace him as England manager?
There is currently no clear favourite for the position with Graham Potter, Eddie Howe and Lee Carsley all priced at 6/1.
Magpies manager Howe, 46, has long been admired by the FA and has proven his credentials over the last couple of seasons by guiding Newcastle to a top-four finish in the Premier League and qualification for the Champions League.
Free agent Potter and Carsley are also in the mix with the latter having overseen England win the European Under-21 Championship in 2023, which was their first title in the competition since 1984.
Manchester City's Pep Guardiola is next at 8/1 to swap domestic success for international glory with his contract at the Etihad Stadium expiring in June 2025.
Fellow legendary manager Jurgen Klopp is also available at 8/1 having left Liverpool.
Mauricio Pochettino, who was released by Chelsea and replaced with Enzo Maresca following their sixth-placed finish, is 10/1.
