NEWCASTLE can field Chelsea loanee Lewis Hall against his parent club in the upcoming Carabao Cup clash.

The Magpies visit Stamford Bridge for Tuesday's quarter-final and Hall will be part of Eddie Howe's team after the club was granted permission by the Blues.

Carabao Cup rules dictate that loan players are allowed to play against their parent club provided permission has been granted by the team that owns him.

And on this occasion, the necessary requirements have been met for the versatile 19-year-old to play in west London.

This comes after the England Under-21 international was ruled ineligible for Newcastle's 4-1 victory against Chelsea at St James' Park last month but the rules are different in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have extra reason to allow the left-back to compete against them.

The Toon signed Hall last summer on loan with a £34million obligation to buy this coming June.

However, that clause can only be activated based on appearances and other performance-related factors which have yet to be met.

Therefore, the more the Cobham academy graduate plays for Newcastle the closer Chelsea will get to selling him in the summer.

The London giants agreed to the deal last summer in order to raise funds after spending a whopping £1billion across the last three transfer windows.

The Blues also failed to qualify for Europe this season and could potentially miss out next term as well as they are currently 10th in the Premier League table.

Therefore, Chelsea have missed out on some essential funds from Europe.

Newcastle, on the other hand, couldn't afford a deal up front and chose to spread the cost by making the transfer permanent in the summer.

This arrangement has also helped ease Financial Fair Play issues for both clubs.
