Hugh Jackman has pleaded with the Academy to keep Ryan Reynolds off the best song nomination list for this year's event.

The actor, 54, believes pal Ryan, 46, would be "insufferable" if his Good Afternoon tune was to receive the nod.

Hugh and Ryan have had a decade-long fake feud and the Wolverine star uploaded the latest jokey plea to social media.

In the clip, he said: "Hey everybody it’s 2023, and I really really wanted to send out a positive message at the beginning of the year, but recent events have made that impossible."

He continued to say his family had loved the flick Spirited, but insists he can't get on board with the song receiving recognition at the Oscars.

The Greatest Showman star added: "Now Ryan Reynolds getting a nomination in the best song category would make the next year of my life insufferable.

"It would be a problem," he went on. "So just to recap — love ‘Spirited,’ love Will, love Octavia [Spencer], love the song, ‘Good Afternoon,’ love Benj [Pasek] and Justin [Paul], but please, please from the bottom of my heart — do not validate Ryan Reynolds in this way, please."

Ryan couldn't let the "diss" go unnoticed either, taking to his own social media to issue a response. "I know it’s still early but Good Afternoon to you, Mr. Jackman," the Deadpool star quipped.

In the film set in the 1800s, the term "Good Afternoon" was used as a way to say "f*** you".

While Ryan is known for his sarcastic sense of humour, last month he was more serious when he picked up the icon award at the People's Choice Awards.

He took to the stage and became emotional as he talked about his pregnant wife Blake Lively. Giving the heartfelt speech, Ryan also heaped praise on his three daughters.

Ryan talked about having three families, his original family, including his parents and siblings, his work family at his production company Maximum Effort and his "family family," wife Blake Lively and their three children, with another on the way.

His emotions almost got the better of him when he touched on his home life and said: "Thank you Blake and my three daughters. It's going to be a fourth child very soon. Blake and my girls, you are quite literally my heart, hope and happiness. I joke that my family exhausts me, but you give me more strength than any man can possibly deserve."

He couldn't help but turn to sarcasm next, as he joked he finally "tested positive for icon" by winning the award.
