Carabao Cup semi-final draw recap as Liverpool and Chelsea discover their fate

Liverpool will play Fulham and Middlesbrough take on Chelsea in this season's Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Record nine-time winners Liverpool battered West Ham 5-1 on Wednesday night to book their place in the last four, while on Tuesday, six-time winners Chelsea beat Newcastle in a dramatic penalty shoot-out after coming from behind.

Also on Tuesday, Fulham beat Everton on penalties to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time in the club's history, while 2004 EFL Cup winners Middlesbrough thumped Port Vale 3-0 to book their place.

Semi-final draws

The semi-finals are contested over two legs with Middlesbrough playing host to Chelsea in the first tie before travelling to London for the replay.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will play host to Fulham before they travel to Craven Cottage for the return leg.

The Carabao Cup final is scheduled to take place on February 25.

The Carabo Cup draw is set to take place at 10.15pm now that the four semi-finalists have been confirmed.

The draw will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Dates for your diaries

The first leg of the semi-final ties will be played on the week commencing January 8.

The second leg fixtures will then take place on the week commencing January 22.

Liverpool battered West Ham 5-1 in their quarter-final at Anfield and will be the favourites to win a record tenth EFL Cup this season.

Chelsea, meanwhile, came from behind against Newcastle in their last-eight clash to beat the Magpies on penalties.

Marco Siva's Fulham drew 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park but also came out on top on penalties in their quarter-final.

And finally, Championship club Middlesbrough got their quarter-final job done in regulation time, battering Port Vale 3-0.
