A MAP has revealed areas across the country that experts say will soon have slower broadband than the Moon.

By next year more than 500,000 homes across the UK will have worse WiFi than the Earth's satellite, a new study has revealed.

That's because the Moon is set to get broadband speeds of 100Mbps.

The figures also revealed Mount Everest has a better connection than more than half the UK.

National Broadband, which specialises in 4G and 5G technology, highlighted that rural areas seem to be the worst affected by the slow speeds.

It also found those living in the country's major cities are less likely to lag behind.

LeicestershireLive reported that Brits in the area where WiFi is slower would be better off in places like Everest Base Camp and the Arctic Circle.

That's because even those remote areas boast good internet service.

Mount Everest is said to currently be receiving broadband speeds of 50Mbps, while the Arctic Circle has speeds of 100Mbps.

The top five rural areas with the worst broadband speeds have been named as: Narberth, Wales; Temple Sowerby, Cumbria; Corsley, Wiltshire; Bowmore, Scotland; and Roydon, Essex.

They were closely followed by: Pomeroy, Northern Ireland; Portree, Scotland; Kilvington, Nottinghamshire; Achaphubuil, Scotland; and Llandyfriog, Wales.

The news comes as it was revealed some people may have their WiFi routers in the wrong place.

This saw an expert from USwitch.com tell The Sun their top tips on how to get a better broadband connection.

Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert also recently urged Brits to do a two-minute broadband check that could save you £200 a year.

The best broadband providers in the UK have also been named - along with the best deals.
