DRIVERS are being warned that loading up the car with Christmas presents could see them hit with a huge fine.

As families pack the car up and prep for their annual gift drop-offs, either before Christmas or on the big day itself, many are being told not to overfill their motors.

Large boxes or small pressies piled high in the boot could block the view - covering your back window.

And those wanting to load up the back seats could also find themselves in a bit of bother if they can't see out of the window.

A car expert has revealed how huge amounts of items could be a huge danger.

Andrew Jervis, CEO of ClickMechanic said: “Many of us are reliant on our vehicles over the busy festive period, whether it’s taking gifts or Christmas trees home from the shop or embarking on a road trip to spend the big day with loved ones.

“But the risk lies in overloading our cars with quantities of items that can block our view of the road, posing a danger to ourselves and other road users.

“It’s absolutely essential that the driver can see a clear and full picture of the road through the vehicle’s windows and rear mirrors, and avoid creating blind spots.

“Meanwhile, it’s important to be careful that the weight of the load does not tip the vehicle’s overall weight past its safe limit.

“We should always take care when packing our vehicles, whether it’s with gifts, suitcases or a tree, to ensure our own safety and to avoid falling foul of the law.”

It comes after Christmas revellers have been warned they risk a £2.5k fine or even JAIL by accepting a lift home from the pub this holiday season.

Experts have urged punters to think twice before getting in the car - even as a passenger.

Brits were even told to be aware of STANDING next to their vehicles as they risk being handed a £2,500 bill over the festivities.
