Arsenal transfer deadline day live updates - Wonderkid leaves, Osimhen latest

It's transfer deadline day and Arsenal must decide whether or not they will strengthen at the last minute as they bid to maintain an assault on the Premier League title this season.

Victory over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night kept the Gunners firmly in the title picture as Mikel Arteta looks to go one step better than last term.

Victor Osimhen is a name that continues to be linked with a move to the Emirates, while a late swoop for Newcastle striker Callum Wilson has also been mooted.

Meanwhile, Cedric Soares and Bradley Ibrahim could be on their way out of the club in search of more regular first-team football.

Keep it right here for all the latest from the Emirates.

That's all folks...

Arsenal's January transfer window has come to an end with no new faces at the Emirates.

There hasn't been many notable exits either, with only a handful of youngsters leaving on loan while two Hale End stars depart for good without making a first-team appearance.

WINDOW CLOSED

The clock has struck 11pm and the January transfer window is now closed.

Some deals may be granted extensions, but the majority of movement is now over until the summer...

ICYMI - Neville on Zinchenko and White bust-up

Gary Neville has admitted he didn't think Ben White "was like that" after delivering into his bust-up with Oleksandr Zinchenko after Arsenal's win at Nottingham Forest.

Neville said on the Stick to Football podcast: "It's not like Ben White, is it?"

Meanwhile, Ian Wright added: "I think it is like Ben White to say that. He is the player and has that look, he will tell you."

Neville then replied: "I didn’t think he was like that!"

Arsenal duo staying put

Arsenal want Amario Cozier-Duberry and Reuell Walters to stay at the club beyond the end of the January transfer window.

That's according to the Evening Standard, who claim the plan is to continue contract talks with the Gunners duo.

Cozier-Duberry and Walters both have six months remaining on their contracts and have been linked with moves away this month.

Gabriel Jesus confession makes Arteta's Arsenal decision all the more baffling

Gabriel Jesus is a fantastic footballer, that much is undeniable, but he may need some more training when it comes to his interview technique.

Arsenal's No.9 is, if anything, too honest when it comes to discussing his flaws. A few months ago, the Brazil international conceded scoring goals was not his strong suit - something the Emirates faithful didn't love to hear from their first-choice striker - and he has echoed a similar sentiment once again following Tuesday's 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest.

Jesus actually opened the scoring in that clash, but was also guilty of some more wasteful finishing. He struck the upright while the scoreline was still 0-0 after being played through by Martin Odegaard and really should have done better.

After the game, the former Manchester City star explained how his past comments regarding his goalscoring ability were misunderstood. Jesus claimed: "Let’s go, come on. If you watch the game, you see me playing…I think when I say a month ago in Brazil about the goals, I meant it in a different way and people took it out of context.

Arsenal given extra time to complete final winter transfer after English window closes

Arsenal will be able to offload defender Cedric Soares even after the winter transfer window closes for Premier League clubs.

That's thanks to the window in Turkey remaining open until next Friday, February 9, with three clubs from the Super Lig interested in signing the Portuguese. Cedric, 32, has entered the final six months of his reported £75,000-a-week contract with Arsenal and boasts just two first-team appearances this season.

The versatile full-back spent the second half of last term on loan at Fulham but didn't manage to impress manager Marco Silva sufficiently for the Cottagers to sign him permanently. As Cedric remains out of Gunners boss Mikel Arteta's short and long-term plans at the Emirates, he's being tipped for an exit.

It's being reported by ESPN that Turkish giants Galatasaray, Besiktas and Trabzonspor are all interested in signing the former Southampton star and have plenty of time left to complete a deal. Arsenal will be keen to recoup the highest fee possible for Cedric's services, with the 32-year-old being able to leave for free this summer unless Arteta and co can orchestrate his departure over the next eight days.

ICYMI - Hertha sign Ibrahim

Hertha Berlin have completed the signing of Bradley Ibrahim from Arsenal on a permanent deal.

The 19-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the 2. Bundesliga side after impressing for the Gunners at Under 18s and Under 21s level.

"I was very pleased about Hertha’s interest," Ibrahim said after completing his move.

"The club has a great history and offers young players the chance to establish themselves in professional football. I want to use my potential now and continue to develop."

Onouha backs Arsenal for Toney

Nedum Onouha has backed Ivan Toney to join Arsenal over Chelsea if he decides to leave Brentford.

He told SportsMole: "Thinking about how these teams play now, and they are very different, they both need a goalscorer… it’s a shame to say this because I like [Gabriel] Jesus, but I think Arsenal,” said Onuoha.

“With Chelsea, they can link the play really well and have a certain style of play, whereas with Arsenal, I think at times they’re happy to be a lot more direct when they need to be.”

He added: “They want someone who’s energetic, who’s going to beat the press by playing it long to them. Arsenal are good tactically, so I think Toney, but then again, I’m still having Jesus. I’m not as hard on him as other people have been. At this point last season, they had around 50 points and looked like they were going to win a league title. It wasn’t too bad then and I don’t think it’s too bad now."

Swansea sign Sagoe

Swansea have confirmed the signing of Charles Sagoe Jr from Arsenal.

The 19-year-old made his first Gunners start in their 1-0 win over Brentford in the Carabao Cup in September, but will now spend the rest of the season at Swansea.

Arsenal working on permanent exit

Arsenal are working on the permanent exit of Miguel Azeez to Spanish club Atletico Baleares.

According to CBS, it's a deal that could run down the wire and might not be concluded before the transfer window slams shut.

Monlouis a target for Reading

Arsenal youngster Zane Monlouis is a loan target for Reading, according to the Daily Mail.

Talks are underway over a deal for Monlouis, who is a key part of the Gunners' Under 21s side.

Copenhagen sign Runarsson

Copenhagen have signed goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson on a permanent deal until June 2027 after his Arsenal contract was mutually terminated.

Runarsson spent the first half of the season on loan at Cardiff.

Runarsson set for Arsenal recall

Runar Alex Runarsson is set to return to Arsenal, leaving him facing an uncertain future with the Premier League giants.

The Icelandic goalkeeper has spent this season on loan at Cardiff City but has made just eight appearances and none in the last month. The Bluebirds have preferred Jak Alnwick in net of late and also look to be active on transfer deadline day.

Erol Bulut's side have agreed a deal with Nottingham Forest to bring American shot-stopper Ethan Horvath to the club. The Telegraph report he would undergo a medical on Thursday morning.

That leaves Gunners goalkeeper Runarsson in an uncertain position. The 28-year-old has made just six appearances during his time at the Emirates with his last being 15 minutes in a defeat to Wolves during the 2020/21 season, when Bernd Leno was sent off.

Arsenal in for Osman

Arsenal are trying to hijack a deal to sign FC Nordsjaelland forward Ibrahim Osman on the final day of the transfer window, according to Football Insider.

West Ham are in talks to sign the talented forward but Arsenal are attempting to sabotage the deal in order to build his squad for the future.

Cedric stuck... for now

Galatasaray have ended their interest in Cedric Soares - because they're landing Serge Aurier from Nottingham Forest.

The Turkish side have been keen on a new full-back and Cedric was on their list.

But they've landed on the ex-Spurs man instead.

Former Portugal boss Fernando Santos, now at Besiktas, could offer Cedric a lifeline however... and with the Turkish window open until February 9, that deal doesn't need to get done today.

Arsenal duo set to stay

Swansea agree deal

Swansea have agreed a deal to sign Arsenal youngster Charles Sagoe Jr on loan until the end of the season, according to reports.

The 19-year-old made his first senior start during the Gunners' 1-0 win over Brentford in the Carabao Cup in September, but is now set to spend the rest of the campaign in south Wales.

Neville on Zinchenko and White bust-up

Gary Neville has admitted he didn't think Ben White "was like that" after delivering into his bust-up with Oleksandr Zinchenko after Arsenal's win at Nottingham Forest.

Will Arteta get the striker he desires?

Arsenal entered the transfer window with Mikel Arteta wanting to add to his attack.

Ivan Toney was the No.1 target, but is staying at Brentford.

So could the Gunners turn to a last minute deal? Getting Victor Osimhen out of Napoli before summer looks tough... but we said the same about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Borussia Dortmund many moons ago.

If not Osimhen today, then could a left-field candidate produce itself? And if so, where does that leave Eddie Nketiah, a player admired by others, namely Crystal Palace.

Forward chances

The opportunity to sign a striker this month appears to be at it's end but it does not mean it is off the agenda entirely. Gabriel Jesus is confident in his ability to lead Arsenal's line but has not yet entirely convinced everyone that he can push the Gunners over the line in the Premier League title race.

Fabrizio Romano believes that Callum Wilson could still prove to be available should the right offer arrive. The Newcastle striker has been linked to the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, and the Italian transfer gurus believe the forward is one to watch.

He said: “Yes, I think that will be the case. It could be one to watch. Newcastle insist that the player is going nowhere, which is the same position they had on Kieran Trippier. So, it's not easy, but if they receive an important proposal because of Financial Fair Play, that could be a different situation. Wilson could be open to the move."

Marquinhos 'done deal'

The Brazilian winger is currently in Venezuela in a bid to help his nation secure qualification for the Olympics but he could yet find another club before the end of the window. The 20-year-old saw his time a Nantes cut short earlier in the month after just seven Ligue 1 appearances.

Reports in Brazil, per Sport Witness, say a deal is done to take Marquinhos to Fluminense. While the youngster expected to see out the season at Arsenal, there is even talk that a deal could see an option to make the move permanent come the end of the season.

Corinthians have also been linked to the former Norwich loanee but journalist Victor Lessa says a loan deal to the Tricolor will be complete after talks in recent days.

Arsenal wonderkid joins Premier League rival

Arsenal youngster Lino Sousa is leaving to join Aston Villa.

Sousa, 19, is a versatile young defender who joined the Gunners from West Bromwich Albion back in the 2022 January transfer window and has been involved in first-team training regularly under Mikel Arteta.

But he wanted to return to the Midlands and is linking up with ex-Villa boss Unai Emery.

Welcome!

Good morning and welcome to Mirror Football's coverage of Arsenal's transfer deadline day.

The Gunners could yet dip their toe into the market to strengthen ahead of what Mikel Arteta hopes will be a successful bid for the Premier League title this term.

Victor Osimhen and Callum Wilson are among the names linked with a move to the Emirates, while a couple of first-team stars could also head for the exit door.

Keep it right here throughout the day.
