IT’S rare for a Home Secretary to tackle critical clerics head on.
But the bishops planning to block the Rwanda Bill are today warned in no uncertain terms to lay off or risk more migrants dying at sea.
Home Secretary James Cleverly is spot on when he points out there is “nothing honourable or righteous” in allowing murderous people smugglers to ply their trade.
He adds: ‘’Bishops talk about good and evil. And we have got to do something about it.’’
It is no surprise that Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and Tory-bashing bishops in the Lords are trying to sabotage the best chance of stopping the small boats.

The bishops have consistently voted against almost everything the Government has pushed through in recent years.
In 2022/23 they opposed Downing Street on 276 occasions — about 98 per cent of the time.
On migration they are increasingly divorced from reality.
