JIMMY BULLARD has revealed a disgusting story from a fishing trip that saw him cover his friend's van in MAGGOTS.

The former Wigan, Fulham and Hull midfielder, 45, was known for his larger than life antics in the dressing room as a player.

But it was away from the pitch that he once landed himself in hot water following a mistake on a day out fishing.

And Bullard has described how putting three and a half pints of maggots in the wrong tub led to him ruining his friend's van "for a year" after they began to hatch.

Speaking in an interview with Select Van Leasing, he said: "I used to go fishing with my dad and his mates, and they’d bundle me in the back of the van with all the fishing gear.

"On the way home one time, I went to put all the gear away, but I put the maggots in the wrong tub and the lid didn’t fit properly.

"I lost about three and a half pints of maggots in the back.

“Two days later, my dad’s mate is on the phone screaming, ‘Jim, what the hell have you done! There’s maggots EVERYWHERE!’

"It was the middle of summer, baking hot, and soon enough thousands and thousands of bluebottles hatched.

"It completely ruined his van for a year. You’d open the back and it was just one massive swarm of flies, like a scene from a horror movie."
