A 14-year-old schoolgirl described as "lovely and sweet" by her devastated family was found dead after suffering a suspected epileptic seizure days after Christmas.
Maisie-Jade Thornton, from Accrington, passed away while at her mum Rhiannon's house the day after Boxing Day. Maisie, known by her family nickname "Moo", had suffered with epilepsy since the age of 10. She'd experienced seizures since and her family believe she may have suffered one during her sleep.
Just days earlier, she'd had a "really good" Christmas Day with 13 or 14 family members, including her dad Stewart, stepmum Mel Stott, and her auntie Mel Stott. The schoolgirl, who studied at Accrington Academy, was described by her dad as "sweet" and "loved", adding they would "always love and miss her".
NHs worker Kelly has created has created a GoFundMe page for donations towards Maisie-Jade's funeral, which at the time of writing has almost reached £6,672. She said: "It's amazing. We're just so overwhelmed at people's generosity and support. We're a big family anyway, but I'm just overwhelmed by how much it's been shared."
The GoFundMe post read: "As most of you are aware our beautiful Maisie sadly passed away through the night on the 27th December after having an epileptic seizure. Maisie was the sweetest most caring 14 year old and such a big part of the families lives.
Dog who 'always melts hearts' with his smile hopes to find a loving family"We will always miss you our beautiful angel Maisie Moo. I am setting this fund raising up on behalf of our whole family as funerals are expensive to begin with, never mind just 2 days after Christmas", reports Lancashire Live.
"We want to give her the send off she deserves, so if anyone wants to help please do so. Forever 14."
Andrea French commented: "Sending so much love. Sorry for the tragic loss of such a beautiful, sweet, lovely girl. God bless all her family and friends. Deepest Sympathy. Much love. From Andrea, Victoria, Brooklyn, Jason, Cara, Lilly & Myla. X X X X"
