The German giants are currently asking for around £130million for the midfielder - whose existing deal runs until 2025.

And while a move to England has been muted for some time, reports are now claiming that Real Madrid are building momentum towards a transfer for the ex-Birmingham man.

SunSport revealed in December that Real felt they were leading the way for Bellingham.

And according to The Independent, the Spanish champions are urging the Dortmund man to join them by explaining that the Bernabeu is the "best place for young talent in Europe”.

Real won the Champions League last season with a number of young players featuring in key roles.

These included Vinicius Junior, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and Eder Militao.

Since then they have added Aurelien Tchouameni to their squad.

And 16-year-old Brazilian Endrick also recently agreed to move to the Spanish capital in 2024.

Real's pitch to Bellingham about being the home of world-class young talent is their attempt to steal a march on the financial power of the Premier League.

The England man has contributed 19 goals and 21 assists in 112 appearances for Dortmund since arriving in the Bundesliga in 2020.

He also shone for the Three Lions at the World Cup, continuing to state his case as one of the best midfielders in the world.

Dortmund currently sit sixth in the Bundesliga table, nine points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.
