To watch the stars in their red carpet finery up close and personal at the MOBO Awards will set you back an eye-watering £5k.

The MOBO Awards has been celebrating music of Black origin and culture for over a quarter of a century now and this year it returns with its 26th ceremony. Taking part in Sheffield for the first time at the Utilita Arena on Wednesday 7 February, the show will be hosted by Love Island's Indiyah Polack, comedian Babatúndé Aléshé and YouTube star Zeze Millz.

Those topping the nominations this year include female rapper Little Simz who takes the joint lead with four nods alongside fellow rapper Stormzy. Hot on the heels of her record-breaking seven Brit Award nominations, singer-songwriter RAYE, who has seen phenomenal success over the last year, has also bagged three MOBO nominations.

Past appearances at the glitzy show have included global superstars such as Beyonce, Amy Winehouse and Lionel Richie. This year will see the likes of the Sugababes, who are back with their original line-up, DJ Spoony and legendary musical collective Soul II Soul take to the stage. "You can expect vibes, vibes and more vibes," teased Babatúndé ahead of the show.

For the first time in its 26 years, the event is set to take place in Sheffield. It is set to kick off the 2024 awards season, coming live from the Utilita Arena Sheffield on 7 February 2024. For the last 14 years, The MOBO awards have been hosted in cities outside of the capital, apart from the 25th anniversary, including Leeds, Coventry and Glasgow.

What time does it start?

The ceremony begins at 8pm and is available to watch live on YouTube. One of the hosts, Love Island star Indiyah Polack, told followers in a recent video: "Set your reminders and join us on Wednesday, 7 February at 8pm on YouTube." You can set yourself a reminder here so you don’t miss out on any of the action.

Meanwhile, the 26th Annual MOBO Awards: Access All Areas will be available to watch on BBC One on Friday 9 February at 11:30pm on BBC One. The hour-long programme will showcase the best highlights from the ceremony.

For those lucky enough to be going to the ceremony, the car park and box office opens at 4pm , the doors open at 6.30pm and there’s a curfew of 10.30pm.

What is the dress code for the night?

Being such a huge showbiz event, guests are obviously expected to dress accordingly. In past years the dress code has been black tie and this year will no doubt see the celebrities strutting the red carpet in their finest designer gowns, suits and hopefully some eye-popping creations as only they know how and dare to.

What is the seating plan for the show?

For the best seats in the house which face the stage and enable guests to get “up close and personal” to the “cutting edge performances and appearances from special guest stars and celebrities” there are a range of VIP packages. The Platinum VIP package is priced at £4,950 plus VAT per table. These are bought as full tables of 10 only with the exception of guest presenters and independent nominees who will also be seated in the Platinum area.

The Gold VIP packages are priced at £375 plus VAT per seat. These packages are purchased from 1 to 10 people per table and are lower in price because they’re further from the stage than the Platinum packages.

All VIP packages give access to the exclusive VIP pre-reception, the MOBO Awards show and the VIP-only Official MOBO Awards Aftershow Party. There will be a choice of complimentary food and drinks for those lucky enough to have these tickets throughout the evening, with just drinks served at the table.

After the show, VIP coaches take the special guests from the Arena to the official party venue elsewhere in Sheffield. Taxi companies will also be on standby to take them anywhere they need to go when they want to leave the party and head home to bed (or to an after-after party).

Tickets for general seats, which have a more restricted view, are priced at £27.95, £45.95 and £63.95.
