THE Six Nations is the biggest annual rugby tournament this side of the world - and it's BACK.

Ireland came out on top in the last edition, but with the 2024 spectacle around the corner, we take a look back on the history of the competition, and how it has grown to be one of the biggest titles in Rugby union.

The championship was originally known as the Home Nations in 1883, and only involved four teams: England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. But became known as the Five Nations with the addition of France in 1940.

It became the Six Nations as we know it in 2000, when Italy joined with the turn of the millennium.
