CAR drivers have put the brakes on fading to grey and are turning back to black, sellers have claimed.
For the past decade, “boring” grey-coloured motors have been top dog.
But data from sales experts Auto Trader shows the second-hand car market is shunning the outdated trend in favour of former favourite black.
In the past five to ten years, one-in-five of all new cars sold in the UK have been grey.
Researchers at Auto Trader have also revealed the number of clicks cars on their website get each year — 2.2 billion in 2023.

Of those, nearly 600 million were for black motors, with grey coming in some way behind in second place with nearly 437 million and white pootling along in third with almost 350 million.
Bosses at Fiat led the way with ditching dull colours last year when the firm stopped making “drab” grey cars.
The firm instead focused on making colourful motors such as red, orange, blue, green and gold.
Auto Trader has more than 400,000 cars for sale on its online marketplace.
To reach the 2.2 billion clicks, everybody in Britain — all 68 million — would each have to click on 32 vehicles.
