Fergie, 64, told The Sun on Sunday: “The most important thing that I say is that every single person who is going through difficult times, I wish all their family members so much love.

“Of course of all people the King is such a beautiful and kind man, he would want that too.

“I think Queen Camilla said it very well a couple of days ago when she said that he is doing well under the circumstances.”

The royals have “bonded” over their respective cancer diagnoses, with a source revealing the pair have supported each other with heartfelt letters.

The Duchess discussed her own cancer journey at the IMPACT conference.

Last month she revealed she had been diagnosed with skin cancer seven months after she had a single mastectomy for breast cancer.

She told the conference: “I sit here and I have scars which I’m not going to show you because that would be really weird.

“All will be well and we will fight on and we will talk about it and everybody must go and get their checks.

“That’s why I talk about it… just because you can’t see the scars in your heart it doesn’t mean to say that they’re not there.”

Sarah wrote on Instagram today: “His Majesty is very dear to me and I think I speak for everyone when I say he is in my thoughts and prayers.”
