Last week, Amazon announced that the subscription cost will increase by 43 per cent next month.

From March 11, monthly subscribers will have to pay £4.99 instead of £3.49 - an hike of £1.50.

While people who pay upfront for a year upfront face a £15 rise, from £34.99 to £49.99 for the 12 months.

The charge is per device so if you have more than one Ring product your bill is set to rise even higher.

Martin Lewis, 51, has revealed a little trick to avoid the price jump for a year.

But others are considering switching to alternatives.

"Seems like everyone is grumbling with the rise in ring doorbells subscription, this device will roughly pay for itself in under a year in comparison to ring and all your data is at home and not in the cloud," a bargain hunter shared on HotUKDeals.

The device in question is the Eufy 2K Video Battery Doorbell with HomeBase 2 16GB local storage.

It's currently on offer from Costco for £109.

For those unable to buy from Costco you can get it from Amazon and Currys at a higher price tag, but this could still be saving in the long term when factoring in no subscription fees.

Instead, video clips are stored on a HomeBase 2 kit nearby, with space for 16GB.

Eufy's video quality is 2K resolution (2560 x 1920) which is more than some Ring devices.

And the company claims it can hold 180 days of battery life on a single charge.

"Tempted to ditch my Ring doorbell and cameras for this," one shopper said.

"The Ring is very unreliable for me."

Another commented: Have the RING. very happy with it. but i think its time. to drop the subscription due next month.

"£49.99 while this eufy may be up to the job. some of the feedback is not so good."

A third added: "Great video doorbell. Had mine for a couple of years and have had absolutely no issues and it is used in a high footfall household."
