Skins star Mitch Hewer looks almost unrecognisable 16 years on from starring in the hit E4 show that made him famous.
The actor played gay character Maxxie Oliver in the British teen comedy drama alongside cast mates Nicholas Hoult, Dev Patel and Joe Dempsie, who have all gone on to have huge acting careers, like much of the cast.
Now 34, Mitch is still an actor himself and has since landed parts in Casualty, as a stripper in Dirty Harry alongside TV legend Michelle Collins and appeared in the musical Never Forget based on the songs of boy band Take That.
But after becoming a bit of a gay pin up in the Noughties after playing Maxxie, Skins fans might be surprised to discover he’s actually straight. Though it’s not known if he is married, he is in a relationship with partner Tash and the pair welcomed a daughter called Aria Isabella at the end of 2001, making the tot around two years old now.
Known for his bleached blonde locks on Skins, Mitch is rocking a very different look these days too from the character that made him famous. Instead of his usual straight fringe, he now has darker, curlier hair and though he switches between stubble and clean shaven, he currently has a well-kept beard.
Married At First Sight star unrecognisable as she transforms for New Year's EveRevealing he was about to become a father back April 2021, Mitch posted a snap of the baby scan on Instagram, where he has over 100,000 followers, and did a gender reveal as he told fans: “Little Baby Hewer. What should we call her? #babygirl.”
A few posts later and little Aria had arrived and proud dad Mitch couldn’t contain his joy as he shared the sweetest snap cuddling his new baby girl in what looked like the moments after she was born. He simply captioned the touching snap: “Hello you.”
Posting a photo of Tash with a newborn Aria on Mother’s Day 2022, Mitch paid tribute to the mother of his child and wrote: “Happy Mother’s Day. Thank you for giving me a beautiful baby girl.”
And it seems he has taken to fatherhood like a duck to water, often posting snaps with his daughter. In one photo he holds her up in the air as he lovingly calls her “my little coffee date” followed by the hashtags #baby and #truelove. In another sweet post, he wrote: “Chasing sunsets with my little lion #daddy.” The family have also shared snaps from their recent outings to Legoland and Disneyland Paris.
It’s a far cry from his days on Skins, which aired from 2006 to 2013, and was one of the biggest TV shows at the time. For many millennials, Skins took them through their difficult teenage years as a group of runaway teenagers and their dysfunctional families navigated through life in the late 2000s to early 2010s. Fans can still watch it on catch up on Channel 4 and it’s currently streaming on Netflix.
