It will soon be the Easter holidays, and what better way to enjoy some family time than getting everyone into the great outdoors and discovering your nearest National Trust Easter trail?

There are more than 190 to choose from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, each offering a completely different springtime adventure.

Once you've signed up for your trail of choice, you'll receive a trail sheet to guide you on your escapade, not to mention bunny ears to wear along the way. Plus a special Easter treat will be waiting for you at the end!

So hop into a world of nature, history and unexpected delights as you follow winding garden paths, don wellies for muddy woodland wanderings or travel back in time to ancient estates, mills and mansions.

Meet Grizwald the Griffin, who has woken up for spring in the grounds of Polesden Lacey near Dorking, Surrey.

Grizwald plans to cook up an Easter feast, but he's never made one before, so he'll need your help! Follow the interactive trail around the grounds, where there will be plenty of fun activities for all of the family.

You can venture high above the ancient woodlands of the Teign Gorge, near Exeter in Devon, to Castle Drogo. If your Easter trail leaves you hungry for more, the miles of pathways to explore in the gorge and the 20th Century castle’s colourful gardens will make each visit a new experience.

At the aptly named Hare Hill in Macclesfield, Cheshire, why not explore the enchanting walled garden? Springtime snowdrops, narcissi and cyclamen will lead the way, and you can end your Easter trail by spending time in the natural play area.

Meanwhile, Basildon Park in Reading - featured in period dramas such as Pride and Prejudice, Downton Abbey and Bridgerton - offers 10 film and cinema-themed game and activity stations.

From a wheelbarrow race to get the props to set, to giant popcorn buckets and Hollywood walk of fame hopscotch, it's an action-packed day out the whole family can star in.

What better excuse for getting out of the house and having fun as a family?
