Many fans were quick to comment on her changed appearance and asked "What's wrong with Amy's face?".

The Trainwreck actress has now taken to Instagram to open up about her health battle with endometriosis - but said she still felt "strong and beautiful" amid her health struggles.

She wrote on social media: "Thank you so much for everyone’s input about my face.

"I’ve enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do for almost 20 years.

"And you’re right it is puffier than normal right now."

The Hollywood star explained: "I have endometriosis an autoimmune disease that every woman should read about.

"There are some medical and hormonal things going on in my world right now but I’m okay.

"Historically women’s bodies have barely been studied medically compared to men.

"The book 'all in her head' does a good job explaining this. I also believe a woman doesn’t need any excuse for her physical appearance and owes no explanation.

"But I wanted to take the opportunity to advocate for self-love and acceptance of the skin you’re in. Like every other women/person some days I feel confident and good as hell and others I want to put a bag over my head.

"But I feel strong and beautiful and so proud of this TV show I created. Wrote. Starred in and directed. Maybe just maybe we can focus on that for a little.

"I had backup dancers on Fallon but my face is the headline hahaha anyway I hope you enjoy life and Beth. Love and solidarity. Amy."

While Amy is famous for her humour, in September 2021, she put it aside to get serious with fans about her battle with endometriosis.

Endometriosis is known as a disorder that affects the tissue in the uterus.

Instead of lining the uterus, those with endometriosis experience the tissue growing outside of the organ.

In 2021, she revealed that she had to get her uterus and appendix removed as a result.

At the time, she wrote on Instagram: "The doctor found 30 spots of endometriosis that he removed.

"He removed my appendix because the endometriosis had attacked it.

"There was a lot, a lot of blood in my uterus and I'm, you know, sore and I have some, like, gas pains."

Amy and her husband Chris Fischer have one child together, Gene, , two, who was born through IVF.

Following his birth in 2019, she opened up about the struggles she experienced while going through pregnancy with endometriosis, revealing that a typical 90-minute C-section operation turned into a three-hour event.

The I Feel Pretty star said on the Informed Pregnancy and Parenting Podcast about her son’s “really scary” birth: “I was throwing up through the first hour of my c-section,” she said.

“It’s supposed to take about an hour and a half — mine took over three hours because of my endometriosis and that was really scary.”

Almost a year later, Schumer sat down with Willie Geist on Sunday Today in August of 2020 to talk about having a second baby, revealing that the couple was going to "hold off for right now."

"We did IVF, and IVF was really tough on me," Schumer said. "I don't think I could ever do [it] again."

"I decided that I can't be pregnant ever again," she continued. "We thought about a surrogate, but I think we're going to hold off for right now."
