I recently went on a bar crawl in a UK town full of some of the nation's most beautiful pubs - but it turns out it's been named one of the unhappiest places in the country.
Dudley recently earned the troubling label as one of the UK's depression capitals thanks to a damning poll which found misery abounded in the Black Country town, where locals complained of a town centre filled with gloom and empty shops.
Labour Councillor Cat Eccles, who serves the Wollaston and Stourbridge Town Ward, admits that things have been tough in Dudley for a while. "A lot of our local towns have suffered in recent years because of lack of funding. If you look at any town centre in recent years, they've all suffered. There's less footfall on the high streets. The shops are mostly betting shops and cafes. Dudley is no different," she told the Mirror.
