Dolly Parton has some clever tricks up her sleeve to help her look decades younger than her unbelievable age of 78.

The country singing icon has never shied away from sharing how she’s managed to keep her age-defying looks over the years, and once famously said: “If something is bagging, sagging or dragging, I’ll tuck it, suck it or pluck it.” While Dolly has never given the exact details of her cosmetic procedures, it’s reported she’s had six surgeries - a breast augmentation, breast implants, a brow lift, eyelid lift, a nose job, and her chin altered.

While other celebrities who have been in the spotlight for as long as Dolly have tried to keep their enhancements under wraps, the 9 to 5 hitmaker has been honest about what she’s had done. “People always say I look happy, and I say well that’s the Botox. Good lighting, good makeup, and good doctors, that’s my secret,” she once told The Today Show.

Dolly credited the previous work she’s had done when talking about how she maintains her wrinkle-free complexion, and joked to Southern Living: “I look at myself like a show dog. I've got to keep her clipped and trimmed and in good shape.” However, the country music legend confessed she’s had to slow down with the cosmetic procedures, and is now very careful over what surgery she chooses to have as she needs to have plenty of time to recover.

“I try to do just little bits at a time - I don’t do like really big stuff. I do fillers, Botox, Juvéderm. Only when I have to do something a little more, and even then, I try to be careful,” she told The Howard Stern Show. Dolly admitted she’s “very careful not to overdo it” as she’s fearful she’ll come out of the surgery “looking not good”.

The straight-talking Southern belle said her original glamourous look was based on a “country girl’s idea of glam”, and while she knows she looks artificial she is just “making the most of anything I’ve got”. Another top tip from Dolly to keep wrinkles at bay is to stay out of the sun and wear SPF, and said she doesn’t have sun-damaged skin like other women her age “‘cause I never baked myself in the sun!”

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed Dolly wears skin-coloured fingerless gloves during appearances, with many speculating that it was yet another anti-ageing accessory. However, she has since revealed she wears gloves to cover up keloid scar tissue on her hands, and has also opted for tattoos to hide them on her hands and arms. “I’m not trying to make some big, bold statement,” she told Vanity Fair in 2017.

Her creative director Steve Summers also claimed that Dolly favours long sleeves and fingerless gloves because she "doesn't like her hands". He told InStyle in 2019: “[They ask] ‘What’s wrong with her hands?’ She doesn’t like them! It’s a normal woman thing.”
