GARY NEVILLE was trolled on his Dragon's Den debut - as a contestant breathed fire on the football legend's ability as a pundit.

The Manchester United legend wowed fellow Dragon Deborah Meaden with his entrepreneurial knowledge - but that couldn't save him from a sharp-shooting jibe by a former FOOTBALLER.

Ex-professional player Billy Childs, whose company sells football boots used by stars, called himself "ridiculously ambitious".

And he was also ridiculously cheeky in his assessment of former England defender Neville.

Childs, 27, opened his pitch with a withering verdict on Nev's analytical skills on Sky Sports.

The straight-faced budding entrepreneur said: "I'm excited about Gary being a Dragon here.

"Hopefully his interest in my business is better than his punditry - opinions on some teams' defending in the Premier League."

Neville, who has a £100million business empire, went on to snub Childs' plea for financial help.

He loved the idea of selling memorabilia - but was sceptical as he believes players give their boots away for charity rather than financial gain.

He told him: "There isn't a single football player that I know that ever gives their boots, gloves and shirt away to be profited from.

"Certainly the modern player, they ordinarily would give those away to auction for charity or they would give them away as a gift to a member of the community or a fan.

"Football players wouldn't like the idea of their property that was gifted to someone being profited from."

It came as Nev made history as the first-ever guest panellist on the BBC show where contestants pitch for investment from experts.

Famous long-serving Dragon Meaden hailed the Salford City co-owner, 48, for his "really good business brain”.

She added: “You’d think he had been a Dragon his entire life… He was fantastic, I’m not kidding you, and he’s prepared to invest.”

But her glowing review didn't stop another Dragon, Steven Bartlett, from having a fun dig at Neville.

As Childs prepared to enter, Bartlett said: "Isn't it good we've got a Dragon here who knows a lot about football - and Gary Neville here."
