The 20-year-old Dane returned to action this season after recovering from a knee injury.

And he went on to score six goals in 15 appearances for the Scottish Premiership side.

But the Gunners made the decision to bring their U23 forward back to North London.

And the intention is to ship him out at a higher level for the remainder of the campaign.

Wednesday, currently four points off the bottom of the Championship, are leading the race.

They are the lowest scorers in the table with just 21 goals in 27 matches.

And the Owls are four points adrift of safety despite winning two of their last three games.

But Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell was not happy with Arsenal’s decision to recall Biereth.

He raged: “It's a major, major disappointment. This was a little bit unexpected.

“The conversation was that Mika would stay here until the end of the season just last week unless something big came on the table for Arsenal that they couldn't turn down.

“They believe there's an opportunity to send him to another club that takes him that step beyond where we are just now.”
