Over the years he has built up an impressive career and a loyal fan base.

Who is Iolo Williams?

Iolo Williams is an ornithologist, TV presenter and author, who was born in Wales on August 22, 1962,

He joined the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) in 1985, where he stayed for 14 years and worked as a regional co-ordinator.

This led to him making appearances in the media and he made a name for himself as a leading expert on Welsh bird life.

In 1999, Iolo made the switch to TV, and became a wildlife presenter.

Who is Iolo Williams wife Ceri Williams and do they have children?

Iolo and his wife Ceri live near the town of Newtown, Powys.

The couple have two sons, Dewi and Tomos.

Together with Ceri, he built a fully-insulated timber-framed home.

They have a wildlife garden, and grow their own vegetables.

What TV shows has Iolo Williams appeared on?

In 1997, Iolo made his first TV show, Visions of Snowdonia with BBC Wales, which followed the lives of six people living and working on the slopes of the country's highest mountain.

A second series was made in 1999, which is when Iolo decided to leave the RSPB and pursue a full-time career in the media.

He has also appeared on TV shows including Canals of Wales, Secret Life of Birds, Rugged Wales, Wild Wales, Iolo's Special Reserves, Iolo's Welsh Safari 2005 and Iolo's Great Welsh Parks 2013.

These days he is known for shows like Winterwatch and Springwatch.

Speaking about presenting Springwatch, he told Discover Wildlife: "Although a lot of the presenting is live, there are a lot of inserts that will have been filmed during spring.

"Whereas if the programme aired in April, a lot of the pre- recorded films would be from winter.

"So it makes sense that it’s on the cusp of spring going into summer. And whilst it’s summer for much of England, there's an awful lot of the UK north of the English border, and it’s very much still spring up on Mull where I’m presenting.

He went on: "It's a brilliant time to go up to Mull, as we're just going to enter into one of the best times – the bluebell woods are magnificent, cowslips and dandelions are beginning.

"One or two other flowers will be just beginning to to poke their heads up as well, so yeah it's going to look magnificent."
