Kylian Mbappe is set to inherit the No 10 shirt at Real Madrid after agreeing a move to the Spanish giants.

Earlier this month, the forward informed PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he would be leaving in the summer and has since opted to join Los Blancos. No deal has yet been signed by the World Cup winner and a deal could be announced once the possibility of Real playing PSG in the Champions League is off the table.

Mbappe has been at the Paris outfit since 2017, following his breakout season with Monaco. At Real he stands to wear the No 10 should Luka Modric vacate it at the end of the season. The Croatian is among the club's modern greats and his contract is up at the end of the season.

He won the Ballon d'Or in 2018 and is keen to continue playing despite nearing his 40th birthday. Carlo Ancelotti has offered him the chance to join his coaching staff at the Bernabeu and, despite initially saying no, the Athletic reports that he's keeping his options open and could yet accept the offer.

Should Modric bring an end to his playing spell at the Bernabeu, it would allow Mbappe to collect the dream shirt number he has donned for France. The No 10 shirt at Real has been worn by the likes of James Rodriguez, Mesut Ozil and Luis Figo.

Mbappe is set to sign a five-year deal with Real, which will earn him an annual wages of £12.8m, reports the BBC. He will also land a £128m signing-on bonus to be paid over five years.

Mbappe has previously flirted with a move to the Spanish capital and has been close on numerous occasions. Real were keen on the Frenchman when he played at Monaco but he's remained at PSG since signing for them with the Parisians producing huge sums to keep him.

The French outfit now stand to lose Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi within the space of a year as Luis Enrique changes the outlook of the squad, which has moved away from the big name stars as they look to win the Champions League their Qatari owners crave.

Mbappe has scored 244 times for PSG since joining and has been named Ligue 1's Player of the Year for the past four seasons. He's picked up numerous domestic honours but has only reached the one Champions League final, losing to Bayern Munich in 2020.

Enrique said recently before Mbappe's exit: "We've always said, ever since I arrived here six months ago, that the team is above everyone else, above all the individuals, and that's the same policy for the whole club."
