IT’S been two years since gamers put their lives on hold to play the smash-hit game of 2022, Elden Ring.

Not only is it based on a world that Game of Thrones’ George R.R. Martin helped create, but it was developed by FromSoftware.

FromSoftware is a legendary game studio that is best known for creating the soulslike genre.

With a library including Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro, FromSoftware is the highest authority on the genre.

Despite how vast the world of Elden Ring is, people wanted more, and the Colosseum DLC did little to tie them over.

The last DLC gave players the chance to battle each other in colosseum-style matches, but the next DLC is a whole expansion.

Called Shadow of the Erdtree, the DLC expansion was announced for Elden Ring in February 2023.

We have now been treated to the first look at the content with a new trailer released today (Wednesday, February 21, 2024).

The blurb reads: “The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion features an all-new story set in the Land of Shadow imbued with mystery, perilous dungeons, and new enemies, weapons and equipment.

“Discover uncharted territories, face formidable adversaries, and revel in the satisfying triumph of victory.

“Dive into the riveting interplay of characters, where drama and intrigue intertwine, that create an immersive experience to savor and enjoy.”

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be available from Friday, June 21, 2024, and will cost $39.99 / £34.99, and requires Elden Ring in order to play.
